Ottawa Police Association Donates to Habitat Guatemala

Special thanks to the Ottawa Police Association for donating proceeds to Habitat Guatemala.  Paul MacKillop, Chris Tessier, Mike Hudson and Jennifer McLinton were on hand to make the official cheque presentation to Habitat Guatemala on Friday November 29.

30 Stoves For 30 Years

Join David Currier in celebrating the start of his 30's by helping to build 30 stoves for 30 Guatemalan families in need.

The Bennett/MacKillop team donated $1,300 to the 30 Stoves for 30 Years campaign.  This is a campaign to aid Guatemalan families in need.  Funds from the Rideau Carleton fundraiser were donated along with $600 from unspent R and R funds that the team had contributed for days in Antigua.

A very special thank you to goes out to Grade 6 Students  at St. Emily Catholic School in Ottawa.

The gifts that were collected by the students, brought a bright smile to the faces of our Habitat for Humanity Host. David, Melissa and Lila were very exited to pass along the soccer balls, and colouring books to the local Habitat Affiliate office so that they can be shared with as many needy families as possible.

VOLUNTEER'S CREED

Though my troubles and my worries

are sometimes all that I can see---

still always I must remember

life's not only about me.

Other souls are also hurting

and I know that it's God's plan

to reach out to help another---

to extend to them my hand.

With this purpose as my focus---

to be a comfort to a friend---

all my troubles and my worries

seem to fade out in the end.

It is one of God's true lessons---

how my walk is meant to be---

true happiness I find when

life's not only about me.
